Music in some form has always been part of my life. My grandparents used to have bhajans at home every Thursday and we loved singing the bhajans.
When i recall the bhajans, its very natural that i also recall the prasadam given after the bhajans, especially the cardamom milk which was yummy. Its always been a habit in our home to do bhajans every thursday and I love the bhajans and the peace and joy it brings.
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato
When I was studying engineering in my aunt – hemakka’s place I got introduced to telugu movies by my uncle. He used to watch movie every day and we (me and my cousin vai - u guessed the pronunciation right :) it is why :) ) used to sit with him and see. I had fun watching the movies and listening to the songs.
Movies I enjoyed watching are of Amitabh bachan, Chiranjeevi, Nargis, Nutan, Dev anand, Raj kapoor, Madhubala, Sreedevi, Sunil dutt, Mahesh babu, Venkatesh, Pawan kalyan, Prabhas, Kajol, Shahrukh khan, Amir khan, ...
My friends introduced me to Hindi and English songs when I was doing my engineering and later at work. Most of the songs I liked were because of the lyrics – very meaningful.
I like to listen to the songs by mohammed rafi, kishore kumar, latha mangeshkar, asha bonsale, SP feel they are evergreen, don't you think so?
If you have heard them, I am sure you love to listen to them too, don’t you?
I started listening to Hindi film songs and English songs when I came to Singapore. I was introduced to old hindi songs by my friend Veena. She is a big fan of Hindi and English songs. The old hindi songs are beautiful.
My introduction to English songs was done at work. All team members used to work in a room which was a closed one and we were 4 team members in front end team with 6 team members in backend – Indians and Filipinos.
Me, Veena, Edil and Cecilia from philipines, Jose from goa – he always used to tell that as if it is somewhere else and not part of india… formed a bond and became friends. We had lot of fun together.
Our boss Chenhuei encouraged us to have fun and work as she knew that we will deliver the best when we were relaxed and could think of different ways to resolve even a complex situation when we were relaxed. She got us a radio with which we used to listen to FM when working at office. This is where I started to listen to English songs. My friends Edil and Jose used to sing along which made working fun and easy. I too liked the songs because of the meaning and the tune – both Hindi and English. There were some favorites – Boy zone, Michael learns to rock, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Backstreet boys, Ricki Martin, Enrique Iglesias, West life and the list goes on…
